Upgrading the sunliquid® plant

Throughout the course of its development, the sunliquid® technology has seen constant advancements – from the quality of the starter cultures (enzymes and yeast) to the individual steps in the production process which led to a gradual increase in overall efficiency.

tanksWith the current set-up and parameters, the sunliquid® plant is designed to produce 50,000 tons of ethanol annually. However, after full ramp-up of the plant, the LIGNOFLAG Consortium will strive to increase the plant’s capacity to up to 60,000 tons through further enhancements on the production of starter cultures and enzyme activity. This will progressively lead to an increase in performance and thus ethanol yield.

Moreover, identifying and eliminating bottlenecks in the production process will also support in extending the production capacity of the plant.
